It's a good idea to email (orders@TrainXchange.com) or call to reserve the items that you want to purchase [items will be held for five working days for payment to arrive].  You can also order by  PHONE (713) 528-3350.  Please click on the above link when you call so that you can look at the order form.    That way you can be sure and provide all of the required information including your name, phone numbers, email address and  street mailing address for shipping.

Check and money orders should be made payable to "
TrainSource" and mailed to P.O. Box 131584, Houston, Texas,77219.  Items shipped to Texas addresses will be assessed Texas Sales tax [currently 8.25%].  The TrainSource is not accepting credit card payments at this time but will use Escrow.com at buyer's request for transactions exceeding $1K.

Items costing more than a hundred dollars can be put on layaway if you would like to pay for them over time. Please read our Return Policy below before you order as items are not shipped on approval.  All sales are final unless the TrainXchange determines that an error  was made grading the item  that would significantly effect the value of the item. 

SALES TAX:

Items shipped to Texas addresses will be assessed Texas Sales tax [currently 8.25%]. 

SHIPPING:

Since items will be sent by UPS, a street address is required for delivery.   There is a
$10.50 charge for domestic packing, shipping, handling and insurance for all train item orders totaling  less than $650 dollars [except for catalogues, which are shipped Priority Mail for $4.15].  Actual packing, shipping, handling and insurance charges for international orders and domestic shipments of bulk and/or heavy items including track, transformers, sets, display layout boards, etc. must be paid for by the buyer.  Shipping and insurance are included in the price for train items and paper goods for domestic orders which exceed $650 dollars.

GRADING:

All items are graded for their appearance [not mechanically] in accordance with composite standards derived from various model railroader organizations. Digital photographs and/or a detailed, in-depth description of investment grade/collector items will be provided upon request.  We encourage buyers to request this information before buying.

RETURN POLICY:

The TrainXchange makes every effort to grade the merchandise posted for sale accurately.  Because our Company did not manufacture the vintage trains sold through this website, items are graded on external appearance only and no representations are made as to their mechanical condition or operational suitability.  Consequently, because no mechanical warranty is made, operating deficiencies do not constitute grounds for return.  

In-Stock Items:  Train Items that we have in inventory at the time of sale may be returned for a refund [net of shipping costs] if it is determined by the TrainXchange that the item had one or more undisclosed cosmetic defects that materially downgrad its condition from that described on this website, and, that the undisclosed appearance defect(s) adversely affected the value of the item - at the time that it was shipped.   You must notify us in writing of any undisclosed cosmetic defect  within three days of receipt of the item and receive written authorization before returning it.  Returns are not authorized simply because a buyer changes his or her  mind.  Make sure that you really want the item before you make a purchase and that you are ordering the correct item. 

Locator-Service Items (not in stock at the time of ordering):   Returns for immediate a refund are not available for items that are located by the TrainXchange  and purchased by the Company from a third-party seller specifically to fulfill a customer's request.  If you change your mind about a keeping a locator-service item that you ordered from the TrainXchange, the Company will usually agree to post the item for sale on the website and resell it for you.  You must sign a consignment sale agreement stipulating the selling price before the item can be returned and posted for sale.  In the event that the items is resold on consignment, you will receive a refund payment in accordance with the terms of the consignment agreement after the item has been resold.  

General (pertains to all items):  All returns must be authorized by the TrainXchange in writing in advance and sent by UPS as we cannot receive US Postal package deliveries.   Additionally, to qualify for a refund, the item must be returned in the condition sent with all the original parts and packaging.  Items which have been operated, taken apart or tampered with in any way will not be accepted.    Transformers, track and controllers are not warranted and may not be returned because of operating problems including temperamental circuit breakers, frayed wiring, worn internal components or other problems common to vintage electrical components.

Claims for Shipping damage must be filed with the delivery service as the TrainXchange is not responsible for damage that occurs during shipment.
